Preparations for the 2026 West Gonja Municipal Football Association (WGMFA) Juvenile League have reached an important stage, with the competition officially scheduled to begin on Saturday, November 14, 2026.

The commencement date was confirmed at the association’s 3rd Juvenile League Congress held on Saturday, October 31, 2026, in Damongo, where participating clubs and other stakeholders deliberated on measures to ensure an organised and competitive season.
Among the resolutions adopted was the decision to maintain the team affiliation fee at GH₵500. Clubs have until Tuesday, November 10, 2026, to settle their affiliation obligations to qualify for participation in the competition.
The congress further established that each club will be permitted to register a maximum of 25 players and five officials. In preparation for the season, all registered players are expected to undergo screening on Sunday, November 8, 2026, with the official league fixtures scheduled for release on Thursday, November 12, 2026.
Recognising the importance of technical development in grassroots football, the association will organise a refresher programme for coaches before the league begins. Referees will also lead an educational session on the Laws of the Game to familiarise coaches with the rules and their application during matches.
The competition will be staged exclusively at the Damongo Astro Turf and will follow a two-round league format, giving participating teams the opportunity to compete across the first and second rounds.
The congress also placed considerable emphasis on discipline, proper match organisation and time management. Clubs have therefore been cautioned to observe all stipulated reporting and kick-off times, as failure to comply could attract sanctions, including the forfeiture of points.
On disciplinary procedures, the meeting fixed the protest fee at GH₵50 for any club seeking to challenge a decision or incident through a formal protest. However, a club whose protest is unsuccessful will be required to pay an additional GH₵100.
With the administrative framework and competition guidelines now established, clubs are expected to intensify preparations by completing their registration processes, paying the required fees and ensuring their players are available for the scheduled screening exercise.
The upcoming season is expected to further strengthen juvenile football development in the West Gonja Municipality by providing young and emerging footballers with a competitive environment to discover their potential, improve their talents and gain valuable match experience.
The November 14 kick-off will mark the beginning of another opportunity to nurture the next generation of football talents in the municipality.
