Former Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has allegedly taken the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to FIFA over outstanding financial obligations following the termination of his contract in March 2026. The 50-year-old is reportedly seeking more than $750,000 in unpaid salaries, bonuses, and other contractual entitlements after allegedly failing to secure payment from the GFA following his departure. According to Joy Sports journalist Muftawu Nabila Abdulai, Addo is claiming approximately 15 months of unpaid wages, alongside other benefits stipulated in his contractual agreement.

The development follows the GFA’s decision to terminate Addo’s second spell as Black Stars head coach on March 31, 2026, following Ghana’s disappointing international friendly performances against Austria and Germany. Ghana suffered a 5-1 defeat to Austria in Vienna before losing 2-1 to Germany in Stuttgart, extending the team’s losing streak to four matches. Addo’s dismissal came just 72 days before the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Ghana were scheduled to face England and other opponents in the group stage. The former coach allegedly earned approximately $50,000 monthly under his agreement with the GFA. Fifteen months of unpaid salaries would therefore amount to $750,000, excluding bonuses and other contractual benefits. Addo returned for his second spell as Black Stars coach in March 2024, having previously managed the national team between 2022 and 2023. Meanwhile, the GFA has yet to publicly comment on the alleged FIFA complaint or clarify the reported outstanding financial obligations.
